What We Found Out From Our Vox Pop

after reviewing the vox pops, we are able to conclude and realise a number of different public opinions of the thriller genre. for example, it was said that a thriller should include suspense and tention, an element that will keep you on the edge of your seat. it is from insights such as this that we can begin to model our thriller openings so that they will appeal to the public.

The Making of Our Vox Pop

i worked in a group in order to carry out a number of different interviews with individuals, asking them each the following three questions.
what is your favourite thriller?
what is it that you like about the thriller genrre?
what makes a good thriller?
we succesfully carried out this interview on a number of different people allowing us to collect a varied amount of information on the thriller genre. when going back over ourfilm, using the editing software final cut express, we found that, despite having used a microphone, no audio was captured, this was due to a technical fault relating to the camera.
in response to this unfortunate error, in the next lesson we carried out another two interviews, in which we succesfully managed to record both audio and visuals.

Vox Pop

Vox Pop-definition

vox pop/vox populi literally means the voice of the people and refers to interviews conducted on the general public whci rely on public positioning and spontaneous answers in a chance encounter. the aim of a vox pop is to achieve a wide angle of viewing points and opinions on a sublect, allowing the press etc. to decifer what the public feel about certain topics and their views and opinions. often vox pops are tailored to the interviewe for example; a group of students would not be asked about retirement, but how a certain sublject affects their educational lives.

My favourite thriller

My favourite thriller is the sixth sense. this film, directed and written by M. Night Shyamalan starring bruce willis and haley joel osment, was realeased on the 5th of novemer 1999 in the uk. it focuses on the story of a young boy who communicates and speaks and sees dead people, their spirits. this is something that scares and terrifies the young boy, until he finds comfort  from a child psychologist played by bruce willis. it is the psycologyical trauma within this thriller that has lead me to choose it as my favourite. i am fascinated my the mind, its tremedous ability to overcome fear or create. it i snot the brain physicaly that intrigues me, but the being of it. the existence of consciousness and unconciousness. they way it has complete control over the body, hence my interest in psycological thrillers. this i sa very emotional and heartbreaking, the torrment that the youn boy suffers is truly mentally horrific, but it is not just his own trauma he is having to deal with, he also has to deal with the death of the spirits he encounters, their traumas and their pain. but most of all the painfully emotional twist at the end of the film truly is an incredible display of the minds ability to decieve itself, when we findout that bruce willis is himself a spirit.
this film also contains an incredible moment of cinema...and one of my personal favourite lines within a film context......'i see dead people.'
